We are just one month away from our 2018 Children's Dessert Theater presentation! This will be our 11th year of worshiping and learning God's Word together. The message of this year's musical is very powerful. Our children are learning that Jesus is our "Kingdom Connection". Through out the musical they get to meet different Kings of the Nation of Israel. They talk about how each king responded to God either through obedience or trying to do things their own way.
The story of King David and how he trusted God has resonated with our team and students because David reminds us that we can trust God.
There is a song that represents David in the play called "Not My Battle". The song talks about how David did not have to worry about the giants in his life like Goliath, and Saul. He knew that if he just trusted God, God would fight for him.
The song says "There is trouble as far as I can see and a giant is in front of me. I am small and unremarkable and they say I'll never win. But I know who made the starry sky and I know who taught the birds to fly who make the sun to rise and fall and who taught the earth to spin. There's no need to fear, I know my God is here!"
Now I know it would be easy to look at this as just a kids play, but I would love to challenge you to look deeper. This is a truth that we can all cling too. Maybe your giants look different than a nine foot Philistine soldier. Maybe they look more like unpaid bills, a workload that you just can't seem to get ahead of, a toddler who won't obey, that little voice in your head that says your not good enough. Giants can take on many different shapes and sizes. They can come at you from all different ways and sometimes they come out of nowhere.
Often times, I find myself exhausted from trying to swing my sword and fight my battle. Keeping the giants at bay can wear you down. It becomes a slow drain on your heart and soul.
This song reminds me that I am not supposed to be working so hard on my own. As the song says, "There's no need to fear, I know my God is here." 2 Chronicles 20:15 says it this way "...Do not be afraid! Don't be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God's".
Zechariah 4:6 says " 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."
So take courage dear friends. The battle does not belong to us! The battle belongs to the Lord. All we need to do is be still, trust Him, and WORSHIP.
I hope that you can join us on September 22 or 23rd the the 11th FCC Children's Dessert Theater presentation of "The Kingdom Connection". You will be blessed.
