Have you ever felt defeated? Have you ever felt like the entire world was against you and no one was listening to what you have to say? I have. Satan likes to isolate us to make us feel like we are completely alone. His best trick is to make us think that we have no one to trust and that no one can help us.
Satan is wrong. We do have someone who hears us and understands us. We have a friend and a Savior who loves us so much that He was willing to die for us.
One of my favorite ways to battle the lies that satan tries to whisper into my heart is through scripturally based music. These are the type of songs that we sing on Sunday morning. Songs that hold truths that are taken right from scripture. One such song is called "Your Love Defends Me". We introduced it at the FCC Night of Worship and will begin singing it in February as part of our next sermon series on Spiritual Warfare.
The song is full of reminders like Isaiah 12:2-3 which says, "God indeed is my salvation; I am confident and unafraid. For the Lord is my strength and my might and he has been my salvation."
The song also references Psalm 91 which says, "You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shade of the Almighty, Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God is whom I trust." It also references Psalm 16 which says, "Lord, my allotted portion and my cup, you have made my destiny secure."
The overall theme of the song is that we can rely on and trust in God. He loves us and He will defend us always. God is our strength for the daily trials and He will carry us through our most difficult moments.
I hope that this song will be a blessing to our church as we continue to do battle with the enemy. We need all the weapons we can get to battle the lies. Starting with the Sword of Truth which is the Bible (Eph. 6:10-18)
I have attached link to the youtube video of Matt Maher singing "Your Love Defends Me". I hope you find strength and encouragement in this song.
